What is Community Re>Paint?
This is part of a national scheme that recycles unwanted household and trade paint, diverting it from landfill and making it available to charities, community groups and individuals who can use it. Free For All operates the only Community Re>Paint centre in Cumbria.
Can I donate my leftover or unwanted household paint?
Yes, unwanted household paint must be taken to the Civic Amenities Site, Syke Road, Wigton, CA7 9NG. Please do not take to our Water Street Depot as we are not licensed to receive it from the general public. Free For All volunteers will collect the paint and return it to the Water Street depot for sorting and storage. Any unusable paint is disposed of appropriately.
What about trade paint?
If you are a paint retailer or painter and decorator, and have large quantities of paint to dispose of, please contact us directly on 016973 44919 (Dennis and Kath) or 016973 45656 (Jude) to arrange delivery or collection. We do ask you to make a donation for taking your unwanted paint (we can advise on appropriate donations), but this compares very favourably with other hazadous waste disposal options.
This project is vital to the safety of the environment as much of the household paint that we use today is full of toxic chemicals. By providing this recycling service, we not only divert these chemicals from landfill, but also salvage large quantities of high quality, usable paint which can then be redistributed to people who need it.
